Getting Started
What NovixAgent AI does and how to set it up in 15 minutes.
Audience: Public — for prospects and new customers.
NovixAgent AI is an AI chat agent you embed on your website with a single line of code. It learns your content (website pages, uploaded documents, FAQs), answers visitor questions in their own language, captures leads, and — when you want a human in the loop — hands the conversation to a live operator. What you set up and the results you get live in one place: your dashboard.
This guide takes you from zero to a live agent in about 15 minutes, then gives you a one-line tour of the dashboard's sections.
The 5-minute version
- Sign in to the dashboard and (first time) create your account.
- Add your first website — enter your domain. The language list starts switched on; you can leave it as it is.
- Pick a plan and pay — this unlocks your install snippet and kicks off the first crawl. If the plan you pick comes with a free trial, there's no charge until it ends.
- Paste one snippet into your site, just before the closing
</body>tag. - Watch it work — the chat bubble appears within seconds, and leads, transcripts, analytics, and "questions without an answer" land in the dashboard as visitors start chatting.
The section below walks each step in detail; further down, a tour of your dashboard maps the sidebar sections.
What you need
- A website where you can paste a
<script>tag — WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace or custom HTML. - An email address (used as your login).
- About 15 minutes for the first setup.
The first-run flow
Step 1 — Sign in to your dashboard
Your entire NovixAgent AI account runs from the dashboard — a dedicated app (not a generic admin panel). It's where you add websites, customize the widget, read analytics, work live chats, and manage billing.
- New here? Create an account with your email and a password. If the sign-in screen shows a Google button, you can use your Google account instead. If you were invited as an operator by a teammate, you'll accept the invite and set up your login from the link in your invitation email — see Team & Operators.
- The box on the sign-up form. To create an account with an email and a password, tick the box I accept the Terms of Service and the Data Processing Agreement on my own behalf and on behalf of the company, and I have read the Privacy Policy. Until you do, Create account stays disabled. Under the box the form shows the date of the revision in force for each document. We record the acceptance — your company, your account, the document, its revision and the time — when your email address is confirmed: from the link we send together with your password or, when you create the account from an invitation sent to that address, at sign-up. Signing in with Google has no box: you accept in a window that appears once you have added your first workspace — see When our Terms or DPA change.
- The check on the sign-up form. Before it creates an account, the form runs a short automatic check that you are a person (Cloudflare Turnstile). Normally you do not need to click; Create account switches on when the check is done. If the check does not load — a content blocker may be hiding it — allow the page to load it, then reload. Signing in with Google has no check.
- Forgot your password? Use the reset link on the sign-in screen.
Once you're in, you land on the Workspaces screen with an empty list and an Add button — that's where the setup begins. A bookmark to the /websites address redirects here.
Step 2 — Add your first website
In Dashboard → Workspaces, click Add. A short picker headed "What do you want to add?" appears — choose Website. (Below it, a messaging channel is offered for each channel that is live on your deployment; when no channel is live, Website is the only choice.) The Add a new website dialog then asks for two things:
- Domain — type it however you like (
acme.com,https://acme.comandsub.acme.co.ukare accepted). NovixAgent AI validates and normalizes it for you. - Languages — all selected. The dialog shows the full language list switched on, so you can leave it as it is. After your first crawl, NovixAgent AI writes your welcome message and suggested questions in your site's own language (auto-detected) and translates them into the other selected languages for you. English stays on: its switch is disabled. Switch a language off only if you're sure visitors who speak it won't reach your site; a shorter list brings no benefit.
Save the dialog and the new website appears as a card in your list. Until you've paid, the card is in an awaiting payment state: you can still edit its details (domain and language list) or delete it, but the install snippet stays locked.
Made a typo? While a site is still unpaid you'll see an Edit details button on its card to fix the domain or trim the language list. Once the site has had a subscription (a trial included), the two stop behaving the same way:
- The domain is locked, and genuinely so — the server refuses to change it, to keep your live widget and billing in sync. If you need a different domain, add it as a separate website.
- Languages are not locked. The details dialog stops offering them — the Edit details button becomes View details, and its fields are read-only — but you can still add or remove languages later from Chat Configuration → Welcome Message. Note that a language added there arrives as an empty tab you fill in yourself — see Chat configuration before you prune a list you may want back.
Step 3 — Pick a plan and pay
Expand the website card and you'll find an in-card plan picker and a sticky payment bar at the bottom. Choose a plan, pick monthly or annual billing, add extra-limit add-ons if you want them, and the bar shows what you'll pay. On this first purchase there is no subscription yet for Stripe to preview, so the figure is our estimate from the price list and the bar labels it as one; the amount you're charged is settled by Stripe at checkout. See Billing & plans.
The plans on sale and what each includes are listed in Billing & plans. Custom, at the bottom of the plan list, is not bought online: its button starts a conversation with our sales team, and what it includes is whatever that conversation agrees.
For what each plan unlocks feature-by-feature — message quotas, which analytics tabs open up, live-agent seats, and capacity limits — see Billing & plans, Website Analytics, and Live Agent.
Paying an online plan opens a secure checkout in a new tab. The moment payment settles, your card flips to active on its own (no refresh needed), the install snippet unlocks, and the first crawl begins automatically.
Step 4 — Install the widget
Expand the website card and open the Website Integration Code section. Once your site is paid, you'll see:
- Your embed snippet (a single
<script>tag) with a Copy Code button, and - A short How to install guide.
To install:
- Click Copy Code to put the snippet on your clipboard.
- Open your site's HTML template — a theme file, a layout component, or a site-wide footer.
- Paste the snippet just before the closing
</body>tag and publish. - Open your site in an incognito window — the chat bubble appears in the bottom-right within seconds.
The snippet is safe to place site-wide: it loads asynchronously without holding up rendering, and by default recognises a returning browser only to enforce rate limits — counting visitors waits until you declare it with data-device-signal (see Installing the widget). It works wherever you can paste a script tag — WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace, or custom HTML.
Platform-specific placement (where the snippet goes in WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, and more) is in Installing the widget.
Step 5 — Watch your knowledge base build
As soon as a site is paid (or processing), its card shows a live knowledge-base setup panel that walks through three stages:
- Pages analyzed — NovixAgent AI crawls your site and counts pages as it goes.
- Prices & policies indexed — the content is turned into the searchable knowledge base your agent answers from.
- Ready to answer questions — your agent answers from your indexed content.
The widget already works the moment you install it — the panel just tells you the agent is still getting smarter while indexing finishes. If a crawl hits a snag, the panel says so. A failed crawl is retried automatically, with no button for you to press; if the retries also fail, an alert is raised for the workspace. When the fix is on your side, such as a robots.txt your server won't return or one that refuses our crawler NovixAgent-AI-Crawler (see The crawler and your robots.txt), the panel says that instead.
You feed the agent three ways — crawling, a few lines you type yourself, and file uploads. The three are covered in Adding content.
A tour of your dashboard
The left sidebar is your map. Here's what each section does. The sections that work on a single site follow the workspace you pick in the workspace switcher under the logo, at the top of the sidebar (on a phone, open the menu to reach it).
Click the switcher to open its list. Type part of a domain or a workspace name in the search field to narrow the list, then pick a row. When you also answer chats on workspaces other people own, the list shows them under Shared with you, below My workspaces. Create workspace, at the foot of the list, opens the same choice as Add on the Workspaces screen, right on the page you are on; when it's done you land on Workspaces with the new workspace selected and its card open.
| Section | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Workspaces | Your home base — add, activate, and manage each site. Each card holds the plan picker, payment and billing details, the install snippet, and the knowledge-base setup panel. (This page.) |
| Analytics | How your agent is performing — usage vs. your monthly quota, top questions, knowledge gaps, engagement, and further tabs that depend on your plan. See Website Analytics. |
| Leads | The visitors who left their contact details, ready to work or forward to your CRM. See Capturing Leads. |
| Assistant | Automatic follow-ups on your leads, plus reminders before booked appointments. Owner-only: invited operators see a notice instead. See AI Assistant. |
| Live Chat | Step in as a human when you want to — an inbox of live conversations, working hours, saved replies, transcripts, and satisfaction ratings, right inside the same widget. See Live Agent. |
| Team | Invite teammates, and choose which websites and which parts of the dashboard each of them can reach. Owner-only. See Team & Operators. |
| Knowledge Base | Type the things your site doesn't say, and upload the documents your agent answers from — alongside what it learns by crawling. See Adding content. |
| Integrations | Connect the rest of your stack — lead delivery (webhooks, Slack), scheduling, commerce, and custom actions the agent can take. See Integrations. |
| AI Templates | Your agent's persona, tone, guardrails, and knowledge scope — who it is and how it behaves. See AI Templates. |
| Chat Configuration | The look and feel of the widget — colors, logo, welcome message, suggested questions, language, and voice — with a live preview as you edit. See Customizing the chat widget. |
| Documentation | These guides, readable inside the dashboard — you don't have to leave the app to look something up. |
| Account | Your profile (name, email), password, and two-factor authentication. It's also the way in to Support Activity — a read-only record of the times our support team signed in to your account or opened, searched or exported your data, open to you as the account owner. |
Channels, between Integrations and AI Templates, is where the owner connects WhatsApp Business, Instagram DMs and Facebook Messenger. A card appears for each channel that is live on your deployment; if Channels is missing entirely, ask the account owner to check the workspace and deployment availability.
Some sections depend on your plan or your role: sections tied to a feature your current plan doesn't include show a small lock and an upgrade panel instead of the data, and operators invited to help with live chat see only the sections their teammate shared with them (see Team & Operators).
When you first sign in on a desktop layout with no workspace yet, a short guided tour walks you through these sections. You can replay it from Account, along with the setup checklist for a workspace — both are on the desktop layout, since the tour narrates a sidebar that a phone keeps in a closed drawer.

Common starter questions
- "Will it answer questions outside my content?" No — the agent is grounded against the content you've connected: it is instructed to answer only from your sources and, when they hold no answer, to say so rather than guess. That is an instruction to the AI model, not a guarantee.
- "Does it cost extra to add a second website?" Each website has its own plan and is billed on its own, so a second website is a second subscription. Capacity limits like messages and storage are per website. See Billing & plans.
- "What languages does it speak?" Whatever language the visitor types — auto-detected per conversation, and the agent answers in the same language.
- "Can a real person take over a chat?" Yes — on plans that include Live Agent, you (or an invited operator) can jump into a conversation from the Live Chat inbox. See Live Agent.
- "Do you train AI models on my data?" No. The tiers and terms we hold with our AI providers exclude training on what we send them. Your conversations stay yours.
