Your AI Assistant
Connect an AI assistant you use to read your leads, conversations and analytics, and to suggest knowledge base changes you approve.
Connect an AI assistant that you and your team use, and it can read your leads, conversations and analytics, answer questions through your NovixAgent AI assistant, and suggest changes to your knowledge base that you approve before they are saved. You set it up in Dashboard → Integrations, on the Your AI assistant tile. How that screen works is covered in Integrations. The two other ways AI reaches NovixAgent AI are described in AI Agents on Your Site and API Keys and Connected Apps.
What it does
An AI assistant that can add a custom connector (MCP) can connect to your account with the address the tile shows. Once you allow it, you can ask it things like which leads came in this week, what visitors asked that your assistant could not answer, or how a website is doing, and it reads the answer from your account.
What the assistant may reach depends on the permissions you tick when you allow the connection:
| Permission on the consent page | What the assistant may do with it |
|---|---|
| See your sites and their settings | List your websites, read a website's usage against its plan, its widget settings and its integrations (without secrets or destination addresses) |
| Read your leads | List leads and open one |
| Read your visitors' conversations | Search conversations, open one, and read how conversations ended |
| Read your analytics | Read the analytics of a website and the questions your assistant could not answer |
| Read your knowledge base | List documents and their pieces, and read your notes |
| Read your live chats | List live chats and open one |
| Ask your assistant questions | Put a question to your website's assistant. Each question uses one of your plan's monthly messages; no visitor sees it |
| Suggest knowledge base changes | Propose a new document or a correction to a piece. A suggestion waits for your approval |
The connection reads. It does not send messages to your customers, change your settings, connect or remove integrations, or delete data. It can write only a suggestion, and a suggestion does not change what your visitors see until you approve it.
A tool whose feature your plan does not include answers that your plan does not include it. Reading conversations needs a plan with the Conversations analytics tab, and reading live chats needs a plan with Live Agent.
What you need
- An AI assistant that supports custom connectors (MCP) with a sign-in step. Whether your assistant offers them, and on which of its own plans, depends on that assistant; check its help.
- To be the owner of at least one website. Only the owner of a website connects an AI app. Staff accounts do not connect apps, and an account that is not active does not either.
- A password on your account. The connection is confirmed with your password and, if you use two-factor authentication, a current code. If you signed up with Google and have no password yet, choose Set a password by email in the Set a password first note, set one from the link, then return.
- The feature opened for your account. If the tile says it is not available for your account right now, it has not been opened for your account yet.
Which plans include it: What each integration allows, by plan and AI Agent Access: Limits and Plans.
How to connect
- Copy the address. Open the Your AI assistant tile and copy the Connector address.
- Add it in your AI assistant. In your AI assistant, add a custom connector (MCP) and paste the address.
- Sign in. When the assistant asks, sign in with your account. NovixAgent AI opens a page headed Connect (the app) to your account?, which names the app and the address the access goes to.
- Choose and allow. Tick the permissions above, choose whether it reaches your sites including ones you add later or only the sites you choose, check the end date, enter your password (and code), and press Allow.
- Check it appeared. The connection is listed under Dashboard → Account → API keys and AI apps, in Connected AI apps, and we email you that an app was connected.
Continue only if you pressed Connect in your own AI app just now. If someone sent you the link, close the page.
Settings
- Permissions. Reading permissions are ticked on the page. Ask your assistant questions, which spends messages from your plan, and the permission to suggest knowledge base changes are not ticked until you tick them.
- Sites. The sites the assistant may reach: your sites including ones you add later, or only the ones you choose.
- End date. A connection ends on the date the page shows, unless you disconnect it sooner. Connect again from the assistant to continue.
- Connecting again. If the app is already connected, allowing it again replaces the access and sites it has, in each place you use it.
Suggestions from your AI apps
A suggestion appears in Dashboard → Knowledge Base, under Suggestions from your AI apps, marked New document or Correction, with the name of the app. A correction shows the Current text beside the Suggested text. Press Approve to add it to your knowledge base, or Reject to drop it. Your visitors see no change before you approve.
- A suggestion you leave undecided expires.
- If a piece of your knowledge base changed after the app read it, the correction is not applied. Reject it and ask the app to suggest it again.
- A site takes a limited number of suggestions at a time, and the assistant is told when the limit is reached.
- A piece of a document is named by an opaque id that the assistant gets from the list of pieces and passes back when it suggests a correction.
Check that it works
In your AI assistant, ask which websites you have, or how many leads came in this week. The answer comes from your account. The Your AI assistant tile shows how many assistants are connected to the website, and the list in Account shows each one with its last use.
If it isn't working
The connection page says what went wrong:
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Only the owner of a site can connect an AI app | Sign in as the owner of a website. |
| The page says staff accounts do not connect AI apps, or that the account is not active | Use your own customer account. |
| Too many connection attempts right now | Wait a few minutes and start again from your app. |
| We could not connect this app: its description could not be checked, or the request is no longer valid | Start again from your app. If it repeats, the app may not support this kind of connection. |
| This request has expired or is incomplete | Start connecting again from your app. |
| That password or code is not right | Check them and try again. |
When the assistant reports a code instead of an answer, it means this:
| Code | Meaning and what to do |
|---|---|
NOT_ON_PLAN |
The website's plan does not include the feature. Another website of yours may have it. |
SCOPE_MISSING |
The connection was allowed without the permission this needs. Disconnect it and connect again with the permission ticked. |
SITE_NOT_GRANTED |
The website is yours but outside the sites this connection was given. Connect again and choose it. |
RATE_LIMITED |
Too many requests. Wait the time the assistant is told. |
QUOTA_REACHED |
The website's monthly messages are used up. |
NOT_FOUND |
The website or the piece the assistant asked for does not exist, was deleted, or is not yours. The assistant is not told which, on purpose. Ask it to list your websites again. |
INVALID_INPUT |
The assistant sent its request in the wrong shape. Ask it to try again; if it repeats, the cause is in the app, not in your account. |
UNAVAILABLE |
Something the request needs is not ready or could not be checked right now, for example the website's knowledge base is still learning. Ask again in a little while. |
KNOWLEDGE_CHANGED_SINCE_PROPOSAL |
A piece changed after the assistant read it. Ask it to read the piece again and suggest again. |
PROPOSAL_LIMIT_REACHED |
The website holds as many undecided suggestions as it takes, or it has already taken as many new ones within a day as it takes, decided or not. Approve or reject some in the Knowledge Base; if the code comes back anyway, the daily limit was the one reached, and it clears on its own, so ask again later. |
CREDENTIALS_AMBIGUOUS |
The request carried the assistant's connection and a browser sign-in together, and only one is accepted. It comes from how the app sends its requests, not from your account: ask the app's maker to send the connection alone. |
Disconnect, and what happens to your data
Open Dashboard → Account → API keys and AI apps, find the app under Connected AI apps and press Revoke. The app loses access at once; it can connect again later, from the app itself, only with your new consent. The card's other button ends your keys and connected apps together.
A connection belongs to you as a person, not to the account, but it is given in one account. If you hand that account over to someone else, your connections to it end at the handover; the new owner connects an app again to reach the account's websites. Closing your account ends your connections too. This is different from API keys, which belong to the account: API Keys and Connected Apps.
What the assistant read is delivered to the AI assistant you connected, which is outside NovixAgent AI. Its provider handles it under that provider's own terms, and we have no way to take it back from there. Connect only an assistant you trust with the data you tick. What NovixAgent AI keeps is described in the Privacy Policy.
Plan and limits
Which plans include it: What each integration allows, by plan. The assistant's answers use the same monthly messages as your visitors, with the full amount available to you. Requests are limited per connection and website, and per account, to protect your data; how the limits work is in AI Agent Access: Limits and Plans.
